Comedy In Stratford-Upon-Avon |
 |
 |
When it comes to comedy in Stratford-Upon-Avon there
seems to be very few venues and stand-up acts willing
to take on the humour of Shakespeare.
So if you're looking for a laugh or two then you should
check out what's on at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre [map].
Each season features at least one of Shakespeare's comedies
that should give your ribs a little tickle.
However, you will also find some stand-up comedians
willing to do battle with the Bard on his home ground
in the autumn, as the Royal Shakespeare Company puts
on a Week of Laughter at the Swan Theatre [map].
Pub landlord Al Murray, Paul Merton and Jimmy Carr are
just some of the acts that have appeared in Stratford
as a modern alternative to Shakespeare.
Alternatively, keep an eye on what's going on at the Cox's Yard [map]. This multipurpose venue has something
for everyone, from live music and party nights to a
pub for those who just fancy a drink and a chat. Amongst
the variety of entertainment on offer, comedy features
regularly with stand-up performers and funny theatre
pieces finding their way onto the billing.
If you're willing to travel a little further afield
then the Warwick Arts Centre [map] has some of the
best comedic talent appearing on stage for your pleasure.
In the coming year you could find yourself laughing
louder and harder than ever before to big name acts
such as Harry Hill and Jack Dee.
