Getting around South
West London is easy as there is excellent public transport
available. Travellers arrive from many destinations to South West London including Waterloo Station [map] and Victoria Station [map] . Both of these large stations have excellent facilities including plenty of restaurants, cash machines and baby changing facilities. Victoria also has a coach station which is the main arrival point for The National Express, amongst others. The station has an impressive range of facilities including an accommodation desk – should your bus be delayed or if you haven’t booked somewhere to stay before arriving – with a communications centre, bureaux de change, and places to have a cup of coffee or tea. There are tube stations at all of the most popular locations in South West London including South Kensington, Knightsbridge and Victoria. Children under the age of 11 can travel for free on London buses. Heading into South West London by car can be tricky as the area closer to the City has strict congestion charges in operation. Areas further afield have some good attended car parks but can prove expensive. If you’re thinking of grabbing a cab don’t forget to look out for registered taxis which usually take the form of black cabs. These are the best cabs to catch, not only because you can be sure that your driver has proper ID and has taken “the knowledge” but you’ll also be assured that there’s a strict tariff to which cab drivers adhere so you won’t have to fork out a fortune to get from A to B.
