For
many, a night out means a night on the pull and if don’t
fancy trawling all the bars in Sheffield to find a decent
prospect for the night then we have some suggestions that
should make the search a little easier.
If you’re a guy who likes the odds of the numbers
game then the venue for you is All Bar One [map]. During the week it may attract a business clientele,
but as the week hots up towards the weekend you can expect
to see top totty who could be ready to take you off the
market.
Ladies who’d like to let an intellectual into their
life should try The Showroom [map]. This is
where you can expect to find Sheffield’s arty
types supping drinks and discussing the merits of
the latest independent film or works of Luc Besson. However
if you’ve already managed to bag yourself a potential
bedfellow then this could be an ideal place for a date.
You could watch a film at the cinema and then enjoy a
posh coffee or a meal while your conversation moves from
whether Eastenders is better than Coronation Street to
putting the world to rights.
If you think a real man can only be found drinking real
ale in a proper pub, but were too afraid to go in, then
why not step inside the far less daunting doors of The
Banker’s Draft [map]. Located on Castle Square,
this is one of the only pubs in the town centre where
men can enjoy a proper pint so if that’s a trait
of your ideal partner then this is the place to hang out.
Looking to inject the luck of the Irish into your love
life? Then you should head to one of Sheffield’s
Irish-themed pubs. Your options include Fagan’s [map] on Broad Lane and O'Connell's [map] on West Street. Although you probably won’t find
an actual Irishman (or woman) there, you may find someone
to suit who doesn’t have a Celtic accent.
If the trial and error of the dating game has come up
with more errors than you care to remember, then maybe
it’s time for a different tact. Sheffield, along
with the rest of the UK, has been known to have a speed
dating event or two for those brave enough to give
it a go. In Sheffield, Revolution [map],
the vodka bar on Mappin Street, is the main speed dating
location. You have to sign up to the event in advance,
however, once in you have the chance to meet and greet
several members of the opposite sex for a three-minute
interview to see if you like them or not. Even if you
don’t meet the person of your dreams, it could turn
your hopes of leaving singledom into a reality.
