If you want to
escape the hustle and bustle of the city then why not
opt for a rural retreat in Plymouth’s glorious countryside.
Not far from the city centre you’ll find the astounding
Dartmoor National Park, which is home to many country
house hotels, including the magnificent Bovey Castle
[map].
Along with elegance, luxury and tranquillity, the
hotel also has a 1920s character that is fairly reminiscent
of an Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot movie. Facilities
here include an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool
and various beauty treatments, while guests can choose
to sleep in a suite, stateroom or classic bedroom.
Also in the wilderness of Dartmoor, the Moorlands Link
Hotel [map] at Yelverton, has a reputation for excellent wine, food,
and a friendly service. Golfers love it for its proximity
to six leading golf courses, while other guests make
the most of the all-weather tennis court and nearby Meadowlands
Leisure Pool.
Other country accommodation includes the Two Bridges
Hotel [map],
which is located in one of the most beautiful spots on
Dartmoor and is surrounded by 60 acres of spectacular
grounds. All the rooms have en suite facilities and some
have beautifully carved four-poster beds.
Situated closer to the city centre in Plympton, Boringdon
Hall Hotel [map] is set in extensive gardens and parklands spanning seven
acres. Many of the original characteristics have been
retained such as deep walls, huge fireplaces and ornate
ceilings, while many of the bedrooms have four-poster
beds.
Finally, Kitley House [map] is situated in acres of lovely woodland just six miles
from the city centre and offers a luxurious stay for guests.
With a choice of deluxe staterooms, staterooms and bedrooms,
this place has first-rate accommodation to enhance
its top class restaurant and surroundings.
