Bars in Norwich |
 |
 |
If it’s a
great night on the town you’re after then you’ve
come to the right place because Norwich is without a doubt
the party capital of East Anglia.
Most bars are situated in the city centre where you’ll
find a wide range of venues from trendy wine bars and
chic café bars to traditional pubs.
To hang out with the ultra trendy crowd then head for Norwegian Blue [map] on the Riverside, which has a vodka bar, plenty
of comfy seating and a blue water wall that give this
place a refreshingly cool feel.
Another of Norwich’s most popular bars is Ha
Ha [map] on Upper King Street, where you can enjoy a meal or pre-club
drinks in a relaxed and funky atmosphere.
However the ultimate in cool has to be Café
Da! [map] on Bedford Street, a hip vodka bar where the best dressed
people in Norwich hang out at the weekends, along
with the few ordinary people the bouncers let in.
Other wine bars worth checking out if you get the chance
include Squares [map], The Slug and Lettuce [map] and the Orgasmic Café Bar [map].
For the more traditional English pub try The
Murderers [map] on Timber Hill, a great cosy pub said to be one of the
best in town. Here you’ll find a good choice
of draught ales, some delicious food and a fabulous
atmosphere, where even strangers are made to feel right
at home.
Sitauted on the banks of the River Wensum close to the
historic Norwich Cathedral, the Ribs of Beef [map] dates back to the 14th century and still offers local
ales and home-cooked food. In the summer you can sit
and enjoy your pint in the beer garden, while the cosy
traditional décor inside makes this place the perfect
setting on a winter’s day. Be warned though, many
people just pop in for a pint in the afternoon and end
up staying until closing time!
Also worth a visit to is Adam and Eve [map] on Bishopgate, which has been a haunt for discerning
drinkers for 700 years. This pub has a good wine list
and ever changing range of ales.
The Coach and Horses [map] on Bethel Street and the Wild Man [map] on Bedford Street are also popular with students, locals
and tourists alike.
