Sport in North West London |
 |
 |
Whatever your attitude
to health and fitness north west London has something
that will help you get active whenever the mood takes
you.
The sport the area is best known for is cricket with Lords
Cricket Ground being a central attraction. Tours and
matches are open to the public but if you want a game
yourself you’ll probably have to try Mallinson
sports centre [map],
N6.
For football fans who would like to join a team, the area
is home to a number of amateur football clubs most of whom, would be happy to welcome new players including,
Mill Hill Village and Old Uffingtonians.
But for those who find water essential to enjoying sporting
activity the area has a lot to offer with numerous pools
and outdoor water centres.
Scuba Zone in Hampstead provides an introduction
to diving as a sport. At the centre you can learn enough
snorkelling or diving to help you feel confident in waters
from Blackpool to Benidorm.
If you prefer to try and stay on the water rather than
in it then you can learn sailing and canoeing at the Welsh Harp Sailing Centre [map].
The wetland area at the centre provides a beautiful backdrop
to your water sports successes and failures.
North west London has plenty of sports centres to
keep both adults and children alike active. Each has its
own range of sporting facilities from exercise classes
to courts and pitches which you can book for games with
friends or colleagues.
Some centres also have additional features to include
those people with more diverse sporting tastes including
a climbing room at Hendon Youth Sports Centre and Belly Dancing at the Kentish Town Sports
Centre [map].
