The Morning After in N.W. London |
 |
 |
When you need a
hearty breakfast/brunch/lunch and the left over pizza
from the night before just won’t do, get some fresh
air and venture to an eatery made for the morning after.
The Engineer [map] in Primrose Hill is more
well known for its evening eats as one of north west London’s
best gastro pubs, however it’s also great for those
needing a morning boost. The breakfast menu, although
not exhaustive, does include muesli, the full English
and smoothies, so you should find all the food groups
you need to get your body back on top.
In Hampstead, the place to go for a morning after feed
is the Coffee Cup [map] on the High Street. Although it may look like the nemesis
of the trendy bars you went to the night before, it is
well loved and cheap. In terms of the cuisine, you’ll
find all your fried, grilled and toasted breakfast staples
here, but don’t expect to see muesli or smoothies!
Opening its doors at 7.30am Marino’s Café [map] is a welcome sight on a morning in Camden. You’ll
find all your fry-up favourites on the menu, and if it’s
late enough for you to catch lunch, you’ll discover
home-style Italian dishes. And if you’re awake enough
to notice the people around you, you may spot a music
celebrity or two as the eatery has been visited by many
a chart topper and was the inspiration behind a St Etienne
track.
There are also two cafes on Eversholt Street [map], both of which will be able to provide you with variations
on the perfect fry up. Double Six is apparently
popular with cabbies while the Victory Café has an all round friendly feel.
However if coffee is the most important part of your morning
after, then head to the Camden Arts Centre [map].
The café there does excellent coffee to perk you
up…and then, when you can stomach it, you can try
some of the food they have on offer too.
