Live Music in North West London |
 |
 |
If the miming antics of some of pop’s biggest stars
has left you searching for some real live music then head
for northwest London to satisfy your craving.
The Forum [map] is one of the top live music
venues in the capital and you’ll find it in north
west London. The building was once an art deco style cinema
but has more recently played host to popular touring artists
like The Libertines, Basement Jaxx and the Sisters of
Mercy. The other top venue in the area is Underworld,
where you’ll mainly find rock acts strutting their
stuff on stage.
New bands making their way in north west London’s
music world will probably end up in the sticky carpeted
back room of the Bull & Gate [map].
The décor maybe dire but here the music is the
attraction with multiple guitar wielding bands covering
a range of genres practically every night.
With a similar view towards décor the Dublin
Castle [map] is a smokey, grungy and just plain loud venue where all
the indie kids hangout. However their choice is a good
one as this Camden pub is the indie-rock hotspot of the
area where you’re sure to find the Brit-poppers
of the future.
Also in Camden you’ll find Dingwalls [map] ,
an intimate venue with the bonus of being able to see
the action from wherever you are - the likes of Norah
Jones, The Coral and Desmond Dekker have all graced the
stage at this venue which plays anything from folk to
world beat.
If you like your music smooth and funky then the Jazz
Café [map] may be your best bet. Having notched up over a decade
of jazz performances from some of the world's leading
artists, this bar has a reputation for being one the best
live venues in the capital playing jazz, funk world music
and more.
Bartok [map] is a free classical music bar close to Chalk Farm tube
station where you can enjoy a classy bar ambience with
the traditional and contemporary classical music adding
to the chic atmosphere.
