Gay Bars in North West London |
 |
 |
There are times
when you can be content to join the heterosexuals in their
run-of-the-mill drinking holes, and there are others when
you need to feel the pink presence pulsing around the
room – it’s then that you need to head for
the gay bars of north west London.
Probably the best-known gay bar in north west London is
the Black Cap [map] in Camden. By day it’s a relaxed watering hole with
fabulous beer garden, then at the night, the basement
opens to liven up the evenings as the cabaret is unleashed.
For years this has been an institution amongst the gay
community and can boast of regular visits from Lily Savage
and the Pet Shop Boys.
Another Camden gay haunt to try is the astrologically
orientated Zodiac Bar [map]. Close to Mornington Crescent
tube station, this modern but minimally decorated beverage
boutique attracts bulls, fish and rams and other Zodiac
characters from all walks of life.
If you’re in or around Hampstead and want to have
a drink, then why not stop in at King William IV [map].
Although not the most vibrant of places, it offers a traditional
atmosphere (complete with beer garden) where people of
all ages can enjoy a beverage or two.
Lesbians can enjoy the male free ambience of the Glass
Bar [map],
the exclusively women only bar in London. And this is
no dyke dive either, as it has the all the style you’ve
come to expect from bars (rather than pubs) in the capital.
Located close to Euston tube station, you may end up getting
to know the area very well as there’s usually a
differently themed event every evening.
