When you’re at a loose end and need to get out of
the house why not visit some of the places in north London.
There’s Lauderdale House [map] and the attractions of Highgate, the Canal Museum [map],
the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art [map] or you could venture to Camden Passage [map] to do some bargain hunting of your own at the antiques
shops and stalls. Our list below has some further ideas
for you if you want to stay in north London.
However venturing a little further afield to Enfield you’ll
find a number of other things to see and do.
If you like to enjoy the great outdoors then a trip to
Enfield should be well worth it. The area is home to Beale
Arboretum [map] , 10 acres of parkland boasting over
800 species of trees and scrubs. The Arboretum includes
a 200-year old strawberry tree, a rare Kentucky coffee
bean tree and national collections of hornbeams and elaeagnus
all in breath taking surroundings.
Meanwhile flora and fauna galore awaits you in the 30-acre Capel Manor Gardens [map] . And with several
themed areas to inspire you, including Historical Gardens,
an Italianate Maze and a Japanese
Garden, you may find yourself becoming somewhat
green fingered after your visit.
