Harrogate is the
perfect place to conduct some retail therapy without having
to put up with the crowds of the big cities like Manchester,
Leeds and Birmingham. With the majority of shops in the heart of the city centre, it’s not far to walk to find an unusual gift or pick up a rather nifty souvenir. With some of the most famous names in clothing dotted around the city centre including East, Monsoon and Oasis, ladies will be in seventh heaven when it comes to choosing something to wear. For designer bargains there’s TK Maxx, which can be found in the Victoria Gardens shopping mall [map]. This mall also offers other famous name retailers including WH Smith. Men will be able to find the most fashionable jeans at G23 [map] on Cambridge Road, and Funky Doodys [map] is good for unusual outfits, located on Cheltenham Parade. Harrogate is really famed for its antiques and so if you’ve a passion for all things old you should set aside some serious time for browsing the little independent shops here. There’s also a few good craft shops which are perfect for alternative birthday and anniversary presents including The Crafty Co [map], The Mill, Glasshouses, and Centagraph [map], Station Parade. If you want to escape further into the countryside, plan a visit to the nearby shopping areas of “olde world” Knaresborough and historical Ripon.
