Meeting someone
special is difficult enough but in a place as large as
London that’s populated by tourists, families and
couples, it’s particularly difficult to know where
the single folk socialise. And once you’ve met someone
special where do you take them on that all-important first
date?
The Mac Bar [map] in North West London is known as a trendy wine bar
with a local feel and it’s this that may make it
your ideal pulling point. On a Sunday you can enjoy a
boozy afternoon with your friends checking out the talent,
then on Saturday night you can go in for the kill. Of
course, the downside is that if the relationship turns
sour before it has really begun you’re going to
have to deal with the possible awkwardness of bumping
into each other at the bar. Oh well no one said dating
was going to be easy.
If you want your new partner to be a one of the fashionable
Hoxton set then head for Hoxton Square, North West London.
The bars and restaurants here should offer you several
options from the typically trendy Trafik [map] to the minimalist cool of the Shoreditch Electricity
Rooms.
Bluu [map] is also in Hoxton but lacks the pretentiousness you may
find in other bars in the area. Finding a potential mate
in here may give you the best of both worlds, someone
who looks good but doesn’t break the bank trying
too hard.
Get in a romantic atmosphere before you even choose your
date for the evening by wandering into Jerusalem [map],
Britton Street, WC1. With low lighting created by candelabras
there is definitely an air of seduction about this place.
Enjoy a meal or choose from one of many drinks offers
and give yourself some courage to approach members of
the opposite sex.
Alternatively, find your Mediterranean match by sashaying
along to Costa Dorada [map],
Hanway Street, W1. Located just across the road from the
Tottenham Court underground station, Costa Dorada is a
real feel-good venue and is a favourite with hen and stag
parties which means there’s plenty of single people
getting worried about being left on the shelf.
Fancy your chances with a rich London celebrity? Then
head to Cecconi’s [map],
Burlington Gardens, W1, for the place where the stars
hang out. Enjoy some excellent bar nibbles and then enjoy
the novelty of staff preparing a drink to meet your exact
specifics. This place is very cool and you’ll impress
any date you bring here, even if you don’t end the
evening by stepping into a celebrity's limo.
If you’re looking for some Sex And The City style
in your prospective partner, head to Ling Ling [map],
Hanway Place, W1, for the best cocktails in West London.
Ling Ling is a bar located within the Hakkasan Restaurant,
so you really can wine and then dine someone in style.
If all else fails this is also a great place to celebrate
being single.
