The Morning After in Glasgow |
 |
 |
If you’ve
been partying hard in Glasgow and wake up with a headache
or just feeling slightly the worst for wear you’ll
be in need of a serious pick-me-up. Whether you feel energised
by a smashing fruit smoothie or prefer to get down and
dirty with a great big fry-up you’ll find a fine
choice of places in which to enjoy and recover from your
night before.
Get away from the morning sun and head to The Underground
Gallery [map],
Cresswell Lane, Hillhead. This combination of a café
and art gallery attracts both students and business types.
The interior is nice and dark to help your recovering
eyes and you can order a tasty homemade fried breakfast
or something healthy and wholesome.
Head down Albion Street, Merchant City, and you’ll
find Toast [map].
The clue’s in the name really, so you’ll find
a large selection of breakfast dishes here and bread-based
snacks. You can also get that staple food favoured by
students: the toasted sandwich, which comes with every
filling imaginable and might be just the thing to perk
you up.
If you find yourself in need of your breakfast at, say,
3am head straight to Insomnia [map] on Woodlands Road, which offers a 24-hour café
service. Always busy and always attracting an interesting
bunch of customers, you’ll find all walks of life
in here. You’ll also be able to grab yourself a
hearty sandwich or good old fry-up before tentatively
making your way to home to get some sleep.
Go for a familiar name for your breakfast munchies and
head to Costa [map] on Great Western Road. This Costa has added benefits including
large sofas and Internet access, so you can email home
to tell everyone about your wild night out in Glasgow.
There’s also the usual range of Costa coffee, pastries,
essential BLT sandwiches as well as lots of newspapers
to catch up on the hours you missed whilst partying. |
