Takeaway
is often a last option at the end of a stressful day or
if you’re struggling to agree with the rest of the
family or your friends on where to eat.
However, delivery food has come a long way since the days
of soggy burgers and fatty kebabs, and there’s now
a wide range of cuisine which means takeaway should be
a higher option on anybody’s menu.
Whatever cuisine takes your fancy Edinburgh has a takeaway
to satisfy you.
Those looking for a range of international food won’t
be disappointed.
If you’re partial to chinese cuisine check out The
Amber Inn [map] on Elm Row
or the Canton Chinese Carry Out [map] at Westport. Both have excellent reputations and offer
a wide selection of inspired meals including curry and
noodle dishes.
There’s some top notch Indian and Asian cuisine available. If you’re staying near Dalry
Road go for The Babas Indian Takeaway [map] for great
value and some interesting tastes.
Tampopo [map] on Thistle Street is a very popular Japanese restaurant
and takeaway. This is Japanese fast food at its best and sushi lovers will be in heaven with the wide range
of fish on the menu. This is also a great place to order
a vegetarian or vegan meal from.
Veggies and vegans are also well catered
for at Henderson’s [map],
Edinburgh’s most famous Vegetarian restaurant. The
salad bar on Hanover Street offers a great takeaway service
with all the coveted Henderson’s ingredients including salads, homemade bread and original salad
dressings.
If you fancy Thai there’s an impressive Thai
takeaway on Grindlay Street called Thai Orchid [map] that offers a range of impressive dishes including Goong
Hom Pa, individual prawns wrapped in rice paper and stuffed
with a prawn mixture, and Kwaitiew Pad Thai, a dish of
noodles fried with prawns and beansprouts and topped with
ground peanuts, chilli and lime.
