Sitting at home
in front of the TV with a bottle of wine (or two!) can
be the cosiest place in the world – why would you
want to leave just to get some food? Fortunately there’s
takeaway... When you think takeaway food usually the first thing that comes to mind is pizza. London, like most other cities has it fair share of chain fast pizza places but you could be a little more daring. Pizza comes in many guises and if that’s what your taste buds crave then US Way Pizza Stars and Stripes or American Success Pizza (which also has hot dogs, burgers and kebabs) should quench that craving. If you think that pizza is the only Italian cuisine your dialling finger can muster think again. For straightforward Italian flavours give Taberna Etrusca [map] EC1 a ring. They’re popular at lunchtime with the local business crowd but do have a delivery service available. For Asian feasts delivered to your door try China-e [map] for all your sweet and sour needs and City Dine for Indian and Bengali dishes. Because London is known for its eclectic mix of food you may find that you can have food delivered which you wouldn’t expect, seafood (and we’re not talking fish and chips!), continental and far eastern flavours can be delivered to your door from First Edition [map] on Canary Wharf. However probably the best choice for those evenings in when everybody fancies something different and you haven’t got anything alcoholic in the fridge is Deliverance [map]. The menu choices include Thai, Indian, European, Chinese, salads and sushi, as well as beer, wine and… films that can all be brought to your door.
