Sandwich Bars in East London |
 |
 |
Whether you like
your sandwich filled with something simple and straightforward
or exciting and exotic you’re sure to find one that
fits the bill in east London.
Over the years the humble sandwich has evolved into various
flour-based guises, including rolls, baguettes and wraps.
Another variation to add to the list is bagels and at
the Brick Lane Beigel Bakery [map] you’ll find the best in the area. Open at any time
of the day or night you’ll probably be able to eat
well for the silver in your pocket!
Calling themselves London’s best value sandwich
chain, Benjys [map] is another venue for a bread based lunch. In east London
you’ll find one at Brushfield, E1, where
you can buy toasted torpedoes, red thai noodle salad and
fresh cut fruit as well as straightforward sandwiches
from their range.
For sandwiches so fresh they’re made while you stand
there try the Subway [map] chain of sandwich bars. Although there are none with an
East London postcode you will find one on Devonshire
Row, EC2 where you can enjoy a foot long sub tailor-made
for your lunchtime needs.
EAT [map] has been around for eight years and is proud of the freshness
of their food claiming that sandwiches only have a one-day
shelf life. For a lunchtime feed you can chose from sandwiches,
baguettes, wraps, sushi, salads and pies; and vegetarians
should find plenty on the menu to keep their hunger at
bay. Their East London outlet is located in the shopping
centre at Canary Wharf.
Also in Canary Wharf, Pret a Manger [map] is likely to be a ditherer’s nightmare because there’s
just so much to choose from. Sandwiches range from the
ubiquitous tuna mayo to Houmous & Oven Roasted Tomato
while the menu also boasts baguettes, salads, sushi as
well as desserts.
