GO Gay Bars in East London |

Although it is the
most publicised gay area, Soho is not the only place
for gays and lesbians to get their alcoholic kicks.
So if you’re out on the town and you’re
thinking pink – where can you go for night out
in London’s East End? For a local pub feel head for the Old Ship [map], E14 or the Joiners Arms [map] on Hackney Road, E2. On the right night both these pubs have booze, banter and the buzz of an evening in the pub. The Bricklayers Arms [map], Shoreditch is a gay friendly weekday local which was apparently frequented by Jarvis Cocker – whether or not his was the case, this bar is a multisexual weekend mecca for anyone whose up for a good night out. Yorkies [map], is an East End pub that unexpectedly features underwear nights. With a strong male edge to the clientele, this Bethnal Green boozer is where boys go to misbehave. While The Fallen Angel [map] is where gay men go to cruise (and have the odd drink!) in east London. This Walthamstow haunt is also where the Rubber Man’s Club [map] meet on a monthly basis. For drinking into the early hours of the morning the Central Station [map] in Walthamstow, a large open-plan venue, closes its doors around 1am most nights of the week. This bar and club has been open for over six years and is very popular particularly at the weekends. Another established gay friendly haunt is the Royal Oak [map] on Columbia Road in which is a popular choice for lesbians and gays alike.
