Budget Accommodation in East London |
 |
 |
London is one of the
more expensive capital cities in Europe and as such
inexpensive accommodation is often hard to find and
even harder to secure.
Bed and Breakfasts and guest
houses can be a good option for those on a budget,
especially if you have children, however there are some
alternatives.
Located just 15-20 minutes away from central London, The Inn Between [map] is friendly and affordable.
Close to Leyton tube station this hotel has single rooms
and family rooms, and when you’re not out and
about or in bed you can rest in the TV Lounge or catch
some sun in the garden. Prices range from around £30
per night.
Grangewood Lodge Hotel [map] in Stratford, E7, and the Newham Hotel [map],
Forest Gate, E7 both provide friendly budget accommodation
with easy access to the capital. Prices range from £25
per night.
Hostels in East London are few and far between and there
is actually only one hostel with an ‘E’ postcode,
and that’s the Eastern Jewel Hostel [map], Walton
Road, E14. Guests from over 30 different countries have
stayed in this hostel and found the Eastern Jewel a hospitable
and affordable place to stay room. Prices start from around
£8 per night.
Although there are not that many hostels in East London
there are several in the city centre and a couple nearby.
On the east side of London but south of the river you
will find the original hostel in the St Christopher’s popular chain. Found near London Bridge tube and rail
station this hostel has a party atmosphere with a late
licensed bar and large screen TV for big sports events,
but is a great place to meet new people.
For something a little quieter you could try the City
of London YHA [map].
This former school located in EC4 by St Paul’s Cathedral
is a practical and affordable base to explore the city
sights.
