As one of the largest shopping and leisure complexes in Europe, this site is home to over 350 shops, bars, restaurants, a ten-screen cinema as well as a children’s theme park.

The centre has it’s own train station, with trains going from Durham, along with space for nearly 12,000 cars. It is also visited by more than 1,000 buses a day, many of which go direct from Durham, so getting there shouldn’t be a problem.

Outlets in the MetroCentre should meet all your shopping desires. High Street stores can be found under the same roof as high fashion boutiques, but there are also unique shops you won’t find on an average shopping adventure. And for those looking at something a little different from their shopping escapades, the centre also has an antiques village.

This complex really is a playground for kids and adults alike as this vast expanse not only has hundreds of stores for shoppers to let off a bit of steam, it also hosts the largest indoor theme park in Europe, complete with rollercoaster and swinging pirate ship.

The MetroCentre is open throughout the year seven days of the week come rain or come shine. Doors open from 10:00am most days except Sunday and while stores stay open to as late as 8:00pm on some weekdays, some of the bars, restaurants and other entertainments do stay open later.
