Fine Dining In Durham |
 |
 |
Being the Land
of Prince Bishops it probably comes as little surprise
that Durham has a good choice of fine eateries that are
fit for a king – or a romantic couple or group of
friends...
One of the city’s newest and most popular restaurants
is the trendy Hide Café-Bar and Grill [map] on Saddler Street, which is part of a small chain
with other branches in Newcastle, Yarm and Doncaster.
Here you’ll find great food, friendly staff, chilled
out music and an all-round good vibe that is perfect for
a romantic dinner for two or a quiet celebration
with family and friends. Along with the wonderful evening
menu, there is also a good choice of lunches, making the
place a hit with students and shoppers in the day.
As with most top hotels, the Durham Marriott has
its own first class restaurant, The County [map],
which is perfect for a formal dinner with all the trimmings,
and has even been awarded two AA rosettes for fine
dining.
The hotel, located on Old Elvet in the heart of the city
has a second and somewhat more relaxed restaurant, The Bowes [map], where you can enjoy a Mediterranean lunch or dinner.
Another of Durham’s new classy eateries is Cathedrals
[map] on Court Lane, which is a wine bar, café, bistro,
and takeaway all rolled into one, while The Seven Stars
Inn [map] on the outskirts of town is a fairly expensive but
delightful restaurant offering international cuisine.
Finally, you can really live the high life you could dine
at the Ramside Hall Hotel [map],
which is home to three top class restaurants. The Grill Room offers a cosmopolitan menu, while the Pemberton Suite offers a wide range of hot and
cold meals from the buffet carvery, and The Restaurant serves an ever-changing menu reflecting seasonal local
produce.
