Clubbing In Durham |
 |
 |
Durham is not famous for its nightlife but that’s
not to say you shouldn’t make a trip to one of the
city’s three clubs if you get the chance.
Most popular with university students, the nightclubs
here offer lots of cut-price drinks, play the ultimate
in cheesy music and stay open until 2am.
The biggest, and undoubtedly the most popular, clubbing
venue in Durham is DH-1 [map] on North Road right in the city centre, which has some
excellent resident and guest DJs playing rock and old
skool tunes.
On the same stretch of road you’ll find Café
Rock [map],
which plays plenty of cheesy and current chart music as
well as having good drinks promotions on student nights.
Finally there’s Klute [map] on Elvet Riverside, which in the past has been voted the
worst club in Europe by FHM magazine. Despite the (somewhat
unfair) title, this place still manages to pull in the
crowds and there is often a queue to get in – and
then another to get on the dance floor! The DJs here play
old classic disco tunes with some dance and chart music
thrown in for good measure, making it a haunt popular
for students.
