Rugby Union in Cambridge |
 |
 |
Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club is a great place to see a traditionally British game of Rugby Union.
Head down to Grange Road and the University Football Ground [map] to take a spectators seat for all the thrills and spills of this energetic sport.
CRUFC has a lively fixture list that often includes big matches against touring sides and top English clubs, so you never know who you might see in action.
The club was formed in 1923 and celebrated a very special 75 year anniversary in 1998. A number of Cambridge players have gone on to greatness including Dickie Jeeps (English and British Lions), Andy Hancock (England) and Simon Culhane who represented New Zealand and appeared in the 1995 World Cup Finals.
The club is the leading one in the area, and a real part of the local community having more than 750 members. The senior club fields five sides every weekend and attracts crowds of 500 people for league games. The club also offers mini and youth rugby sections to young boys and girls aged under 17, who play on Saturdays encouraged by full support (again, around 500 people).
For more information about this club and to find out when they are next playing check out the official CRUFC website. |
