The menu offers a range of noodle dishes including soup-based and wok-fried. There’s also plenty of veggie dishes on offer as well as meat and seafood options. One of the area’s few Japanese restaurants The Golden Pheasant [map] offers excellent service and some of the finest cuisine in Cambridge. There’s also a selection of scrumptious sweets and a 10 per cent discount if you choose to take away instead of eating in.

For something really different make your dining companion a clown by visiting Clowns [map] on King Street. This is one of those places that you’ll either love or hate, either way it stirs up strong feeling. Everywhere you look you’ll find a clown staring you in the face as the décor is decidedly clown-like. Forget about custard pies, as Clowns cheesecakes are the best around. Favoured by students and young people but those who suffer from coulrophobia should probably stay away.
