Bars in Bristol |
 |
 |
For places to party, pull or parade in your best designer gear, you’ll find every kind of bar in Bristol.
Clifton and Southville have a great number of bars and restaurants for those who like chic and modern, with a few traditional establishments dotted around, whilst Baldwin Street [map] and Broad Street [map] in the very heart of Bristol City Centre are where you’re more likely to see student types and those who take their beats very seriously. Those in search of fun, particularly hen and stag parties, should head to Whiteladies Road.
One of the areas hottest places to be is 139 North Street [map] in Southville, which is the brain child of club guru Andy McCarthy. Having won two regional “venue of the year awards”, McCarthy puts his reputation on the line with 139 North Street, which follows in the respected footsteps of other Bristol favourites such as The Farm [map] and Cadbury House [map]. He needn’t worry though, as 139 North Street is a great place to relax and enjoy a delicious pizza or take to the beer garden and sup a Grolsch. On certain evenings the atmosphere heats up when the resident DJ starts to spin some discs.
If DJs are your bag, you should also check out Arc [map], which plays host to a number of up-and-coming DJs who take it upon themselves to introduce their audience to some lively and imaginative beats. The venue can be found at Broad Street, and has acquired a strong reputation for its commitment to electronic arts. Here, you never know what kind of music or performance might take to the decks next.
Combine your drinking with some excellent cuisine at Bar Humbug [map] on Whiteladies Road, where you’ll be able to taste some truly original Moroccan delights to compliment one of the dozens of cocktails on offer or a glass of wine from extensive wine list.
If you’re keen to party hard, or want to start a night on the town with the girls or guys in style, check out Henry Africa’s Hot House [map] on Whiteladies Road, which serves a mammoth selection of cocktails. Henry’s is a real institution in the area at more than 15 years old and has made Whiteladies Road the first port of call for those in search of fun.
