As one of the UK’s
leading destinations for a beach holiday, Brighton is packed to bursting
with hotels, apartments and hostels to suit every taste and budget. If you fancy splashing out then why not go the whole hog and book your room at Brighton’s leading hotel, The Grand [map], a luxury five star spectacle with all the trimmings. Just as plush but perhaps not as expensive is the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel [map], which is located in one of the city’s finest buildings. Both of these hotels have elegant bedrooms, a fitness club, swimming pool and a top class restaurant. Situated on the King’s Road promenade with a beautiful view of the sea, the Jarvis Norfolk [map] is a pretty Regency-style hotel, popular with business and leisure visitors whose budget does not stretch to the glitzy hotels mentioned above. For something very different try Blanch House [map] in Kemp Town, where each room is individually decorated around a theme including Moroccan, Indian and 70s Boogie Woogie. There is also a restaurant and cocktail bar on the premises. Although a trip to the seaside is usually enough to make people forget the stresses of their hectic lives, some people need more help to relax. So it’s a good job that there are plenty of rural retreats in and around Brighton, where you can enjoy a gentle stroll in the countryside or just sit back and watch the world go by. Located near Hastings about half an hour from central Brighton, is Beauport Park Country Hotel [map], a magnificent hotel set in 33 acres of woodland and picturesque gardens. But it’s Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club [map] in Forest Row where you’ll find the ultimate in local rural retreats, what with its 186 acres of parkland, a secret garden and beautiful lakes. If you’re looking for basic but comfortable accommodation in the city centre or on the outskirts, then a B&B or guesthouse might be the best option. Many of these can be found in the Kemp Town district of the city, including the small Funchal Guest House [map] and the classy Twenty One [map] bed and breakfast on Charlotte Street. For a sea view why not try the Brunswick Square Hotel [map] located in the grandeur Brunswick Square, which is close to the attractions and the beach. Travellers on a very tight budget may want to stay in a hostel so they can save their hard earned cash for the visitor attractions. Among the most popular budget accommodation in the city is the renowned Brighton Backpackers [map], a cheerful hostel located in the heart of The Lanes. There is also a Youth Hostel Association establishment in Brighton but you need to be a member of the organisation to stay here. Finally if you want to make the most of Brighton's rich selection of cafés and restaurants then why not opt for self-catering accommodation, such as the Metropole Court [map] apartments or Honeysuckle holiday cottage [map].
