Sandwich Bars in Blackpool |
 |
 |
One of the first things
you notice about Blackpool (after the Tower, of course) is that the
resort is packed to bursting with fast food eateries and traditional
English cafés.
So if you’re feeling peckish during your tour of the town then
make sure you stop off at one of these cafés for a hearty baguette,
steaming hot soup or strawberry milkshake.
Located on Abingdon Street, close to the market, Boccaccio’s
Café [map]
offers good homemade food in a friendly atmosphere.
Just down the road from here you’ll find the hugely popular
Abingdon Barbecue [map],
where you can get filling hot meat sandwiches made with freshly baked
bread. Be warned though - there’s always a big queue at lunchtime
as workers, tourists and locals head here for a reasonably priced
ham, pork, chicken or beef sarnie.
In the summer make the most of the nice weather (because it usually
doesn’t last long!) by heading to Birley Street, where the cluster
of cafés have tables on the pavement. Among them is the trendy
Peppermill [map],
which serves an ever-changing menu of freshly made sandwiches, with
Louisiana Beef and minted lamb among the favourites.
If you’re a tea or coffee lover then you’ll just adore
The Coffee Mill [map]
on Church Street where you can choose from 24 teas, including
Russian Caravan and Green Gunpowder, and an array of
coffees, such as Papua New Guinea and Kenyan Peaberry. Snacks, salads
and sandwiches are also available here at lunchtime and the café
is open all day, six days a week.
For traditional English grub head to the Good Food Kitchen [map]
on Cedar Square, a little Cottage-style café serving a delicious
home-cooked menu.
Other eateries worth checking include; the Copper Kettle [map]
on Bond Street, winner of the 2000 Blackpool Tourism Gold Award,
and The Snackery [map],
a family run café since 1978, specializing in fresh home cooked
meals, snacks and salads.
