Places in Blackpool |
 |
 |
Blackpool is the busiest seaside resort in the UK and it’s no
wonder, the wealth of places to visit here will keep you busy for
days!
They may not be a place to visit as such, as they take up a mile of
the Promenade, but the Blackpool Illuminations are well worth
visiting when they are lit between September and early November.
Next up is the town’s major landmark, the Blackpool Tower
[map],
an Eiffel Tower-style structure, with a circus, family bars and children’s
adventure playground and the tower top Walk of Faith.
Situated close to the Tower is Blackpool’s Sea Life Centre
[map],
which has a wide variety of water creatures from seahorses to the
largest collection of sharks in Britain.
Also on this stretch of the Promenade is Louis Tussaud's Waxworks
[map],
which has more than 150 waxwork figures of film stars, pop singers,
sporting greats and royalty.
On South Shore there are many more attractions including Blackpool
Pleasure Beach [map],
where you will find the tallest, fastest rollercoaster in Europe,
the Pepsi Max Big One, amongst others.
Located on the Promenade, Sandcastle Waterworld [map]
is a subtropical paradise with a Sleepy Lagoon children’s fun
pool, a wave pool, white-knuckle water chutes and water slides.
Blackpool is also home to three piers; the North Pier
[map]
is home to a theatre and a pictorial exhibition of pier's
history, the Central Pier [map]
has the Big Wheel, hook-a-duck and live entertainment, and the South
Pier [map],
which has a classic fairground and bungee jump ride.
Also worth a look is Blackpool Zoo [map]
on East Park Drive , which has 32 acres of parkland and is home to
1,500 animals, including lions, tigers, elephants and gorillas.
To escape the bustling resort head to Stanley Park [map],
where you’ll find stone statues, water fountains, gardens, tennis
courts and a children’s playground.
Finally, for a fun way to see all the attractions take the City
Sightseeing Bus Tour from the Tower to Stanley Park that takes
in the Model Village, Blackpool Zoo and the Pleasure Beach.
