Football in Blackpool |
 |
 |
With a few football
pitches, junior teams, and a Coca-Cola League Division side, Blackpool
has lots to offer footy fans.
If you want a friendly five-a-side game then check out the
facilities at Blackpool Sports Centre [map],
which has a sports arena, and an outdoor all-weather pitch. Football
sessions here can be pre-booked for one or two hours.
For those who just want to enjoy a casual kick-about with family and
friends there are more than 80 public parks in Blackpool, where
you can enjoy a friendly game of soccer. Stanley Park
[map]
is the undoubtedly jewel in Blackpool's crown and covers 256
acres of scenic parkland. Along with plenty of space for a game
of football, the park also boasts a café where you can grab
a refreshing drink at half time!
The city’s professional football team is Blackpool
FC, which has had a rather illustrious past, mainly thanks to
its connections with the legendary Stanley Matthews. For more
information on the club’s history, click on the link below.
To show your support for the Tangerines or to get the latest training
gear, head to one of the many sports shops in the town centre, including
JJB Sports, which sell a wide selection of football clothing and accessories. |
