There are certain things that make Bath famous and you
can guarantee that these tourist hotspots are usually
packed, particularly during holiday times, so don’t
follow the crowd next time you visit Bath, get out and
about and see what’s really going on.
Combine a spot of retail therapy with a step back into
the past and enjoy the delights of the quaint Pulteney
Bridge [map].
This olde world bridge is one of the few in the world
that is actually lined with tiny independent shops,
giving the whole area a distinctly Dickensian feel.
If you’re looking for a history lesson that’s
sure to send shivers down even the toughest spine, check
out Bath’s famous ghost walks. Actors take
you on a journey around the city centre, stopping off
at some of Bath’s most haunted venues. Ghost
walks begin at Garricks Head Pub [map] at the Theatre
Royal.
Prove to yourself that you’ve got what it takes
to live like royalty and enjoy a scenic visit to the impressive
Farleigh Hungerford Castle [map]. The picturesque ruins
command splendid views over the valley of the River
Frome. The chapel contains wall paintings and the fine
tomb of Sir Thomas Hungerford, who built the castle in
the 1370s.
If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of
a big surprise. Have fun and get fit by participating
in a spot of paint balling courtesy of the Adventure
Company [map].
They can be found on Hopps Road in Kingswood.
